Bill Cosby’s Mugshot Released | Pleads “Not Guilty” & Bail Set at $1,000,000

Comedian Bill Cosby was arraigned yesterday afternoon with his bail was set at $1,000,000 and he was forced to surrender his passport.

As reported yesterday, he is being charged with sexual assault for an incident that happened in January 2004. The charge is coming just before the statute of limitations is up on the Andrea Constand case.

The arraignment was held on Wednesday (December 30) in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania and Bill Cosby’s lawyers plead not guilty to the sexual assault charges.

The 78-year-old comedian was escorted to the courts yesterday by his wife and his lawyer. The lawyer has since released a statement saying:

The charge by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office came as no surprise. Filed 12 years after the alleged incident and coming on the heels of a hotly contested election for this county’s DA during which this case was made the focal point. Make no mistake, we intend to mount a vigorous defense against this unjustified charge and we expect that Mr. Cosby will be exonerated by a court of law.

A court date was set for January 14

 

If convicted, Bill Cosby could face up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

A Nigerian lady attempting to smuggle drug in a bag of noodles from Lagos to Malaysia has been arrested.

The suspect identified as Gloria Ezeabata was arrested during the inward screening of passengers on an Ethiopian airline at the departure hall.

Ezeabata, who works with an accounting firm in Lagos, admitted having a Facebook relationship that got her involved in drug trafficking.

She said: "I met a man on Facebook some months ago who lives in Malaysia. He told me while chatting online that he is from my state, Anambra in South-East, Nigeria. After some months, he proposed marriage and I told him to come to Nigeria to meet my parents as our custom demands. He promised to fulfill every marriage rite. "Months later, he invited me to Malaysia, promising to pay all the travel expenses. After several appeals, I decided to visit him.

The day I was to travel, he told me to take along a bag of foodstuff sent by his mother from the village. I was given the bag at the airport but in the process of checking it in, drug was discovered inside packs of noodles in the bag and I was arrested."

Substances that tested positive for methamphetamine weighing 1.325kg were detected in her luggage. It was concealed in 26 packs of noodles

The man who prepared Gloria’s travel documents and gave her the bag of drugs, one Philip Akpaka(pictured above) also admitted that she prepared Gloria’s documents on the request of his friend based in Malaysia.

He said:

"I’m a transporter. My friend in Malaysia asked me to prepare travel documents for Gloria. He also asked me to give a bag to Gloria to take to Malaysia."

We don’t know what is happening because three courts have granted him bail. Why are they after him? Let those concerned respect the court by releasing my husband.

“There is no way my husband will run away from the country under any guise. They should please follow the rule of law and uphold his right to bail.”

Elizabeth Igwe, a 20-year-old housegirl, was yesterday arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing her employer’s jewellery worth N3 million.

The prosecution said the accused unlawfully entered her employer’s room to steal the jewellery.

Police Inspector Francisca Okere told the court that the accused committed the offence on December 17 on Kazeem Street, Chevy View Estate in Lekki, Lagos.

"Igwe packed all the jewellery and gave them to her boyfriend at Alpha Beach. Before she was apprehended, the accused had planned to leave for her village for Christmas and had no plans of coming back to work for her boss," he said.

In her confessional statement, Miss Igwe said she committed the offence because she is incapable of buying Christmas gift for her boyfriend who is now at large.

Arrest Warrant Issued for Bill Cosby over Alleged Sexual Assault in January 2004

 

An arrest warrant has been issued for 78-year-old comedian Bill Cosby for the alleged sexual assault and drugging of Andrea Constand.

According to People, the official charge listed as aggravated indecent assault, which is a felony.

Bill Cosby, who has been accused of sexual assault by over 50 women, has always claimed the relations between him and Andrea was consensual, and Andrea alleges that she was in a relationship with a woman at the time.

According to reports, Andrea formerly worked at Temple University, and the Bill Cosby reportedly abused her at his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania mansion in January of 2004.

A press conference took place today, Wednesday (December 30) to confirm the news that he would be charged with a crime.

Dolores Troiani, Andrea‘s lawyer, said of the news, "Obviously we appreciate the expression of confidence in her. We’ll have to see what happens. We hope justice will be done. We will cooperate fully."

Meet 32-year-old Wasami Dennis, a cross-border robbery suspect from Abraka in Delta State.

He was arrested at his hideout in Orile area of Lagos last weekend.

The suspect said he operated more in Ghana than Nigeria, stressing that Ghanaians never challenged him in any of his operations.

"I was just released from prison about a year ago. I was caught with a stolen laptop from Ghana along with three machetes in my hideout," .

"I am an expert in break-in-robbery; I break into people’s houses and cart away their properties and personal effects like mobile phones, laptops and jewelry. I used to bring the stolen items to Nigeria to sell. I have a ready market for them in Lome and Lagos."

According to him, the two machetes found in his apartment belong to hoodlums operating in a garage nearby.

"They kept them there for whenever there is crisis among them. These boys are called Spartacus. They are trouble makers. They are always at the junction. I don’t know anything about it and I never knew they were there.

"For now, I work on Lagos Island where I help connect people who want to buy children clothing to sellers. I earn commission from this and that is how I earn my livelihood",.

"My last operation was in Festac. It was the one that led to my arrest and consequently my imprisonment at Kirikiri. Since I came back, I have never gone into breaking in and stealing".

The break-in-robbery expert **wink* is currently helping the police to locate his accomplices.

PETITION AGAINST MISS ASHLEY COCO ADELEKE & MR ADEDEJI ADELEKE FOR ATTEMPTED CHILD TRAFFICKING AND ABDUCTION OF MISS AURORA IMADE ADELEKE

We act as Solicitors for Miss. Sophia Ajibola Momodu, (hereinafter referred to as our client) whose instructions we have to forward this petition to your esteemed Agency.

Our client, a 27 year old, is the biological mother of a baby girl with name, Aurora Imade Adeleke, who was born on the 14th day of May 2015. The baby’s father is Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke (aka Davido). The father and mother are unmarried.

On the 11th July, 2015, our client was tricked to visit the house of Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke’s half sister – Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke’s with her baby, Imade Aurora Adeleke. After getting to the house on Baderinwa Alabi Street, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, our client’s baby was forcefully taken from her and she was thrown out of the premises with the threat that she would be decisively dealt with if she ever bothered to return there. There were armed policemen in the premises and our client’s survival instinct prevailed on her to make her leave her breast suckling baby behind, with so much pain in her heart.

By daybreak on the next day, our client was again at Ashley Coco Adeleke’s house to take her baby, but she was prevented by armed policemen from gaining access into the house. She was again threatened and warned never to return for the child.

Since July 2015, our client, who has now become so disorientated, saddened and confused has been going to family members, including her cousin, Mr Dele Momodu, and other well meaning Nigerians to intervene and allow her get her baby back or at least allow her to be able to have access to and care for her daughter. This was frustrated by Coco Adeleke, David Adeleke and their father, Mr. Adedeji Adeleke. These people boasted to our client and all her family and friends that our client is a nonentity and of little substance in Nigeria. They also claim that they have the financial wherewithal and political and security clout to deal with her and her family anyhow and without any consequence with the aid of their brother and uncle, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, and other friends Mr Deji Adeleke purportedly has in government. In a bid to justify their actions, Mr Deji Adeleke and his daughter, Ashley Coco Adeleke, have been spreading several malicious and unfounded allegations about our client.

While the attempts at finding a peaceful and lasting solution were still ongoing, on Tuesday the 29th December 2015, Ashley Coco Adeleke and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, tried to travel to Dubai with our client’s baby. The baby was meant to be flown out of the country with Nigerian and American passports. Prior to that date, our client and her cousin, Mr Dele Momodu, had gone to alert the immigration services at the Murtala Mohammed, Ikeja International airport of the likelihood of Ashley Coco Adeleke travelling with our client’s baby by pretending to be the Mother. Our client believes that her baby’s American passport was hidden and is now likely to be in possession of Mr Deji Adeleke or Ashley Coco Adeleke. It appears that the assistance of Emirates Airline was sought as the baby’s American passport was not produced in breach of aviation regulations. Neither was a letter of authority from the mother to confirm her consent to the trip produced despite the airline being alerted.

When Mrs. Modupe Mofikoya, the immigration officer who attended to the Adeleke travelling party accosted Ashley Coco Adeleke and asked for the mother of the baby, Ashley Adeleke claimed that she was the mother. Immediately, the immigration officer on duty collected her Nigerian international passport, she quickly absconded from the scene with the baby and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, showed up shortly afterwards to try to clear his daughter’s mess.

Our client with the help of her family members, including Mr Dele Momodu, determinedly resisted the attempt by Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, from taking Aurora Imade Adeleke from Lagos yesterday. Our client believes that the pair are trying to take the child to America and thus put her out of the reach of the biological mother.

At the moment, Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke and our client’s daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke are still in Lagos and two of their respective international passports are in the custody of the airport immigration services. Our client’s fear now, is that Ashley Coco may use her Nigerian passport and Aurora Imade’s American passport to travel through other Nigerian or West African airports.

We know that the actions of Mr Deji Adeleke and Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke contravene many provisions of the law. One is Section 13 of the Childs Right Law 2007 of Lagos State (as adapted from the Federal Act), which guarantees Aurora Imade Adeleke’s right to parental care and protection. That law also forbids separation of a child from her parents. Another is Section 24 of the same law, which also prohibits abduction of a child from the lawful custody of her parents. Neither Mr Deji Adeleke or Ms Ashley Coco Adeleke has any lawful right to the custody of Aurora Imade Adeleke. Even the unmarried father, Mr David Adedeji Adeleke, only has limited rights to the child and certainly not to the exclusion of our client, the natural mother as the Adeleke’s are trying to do.

We are of the sound view that your Agency is the most viable organisation that can intervene in the plight of our client and save her from the untold trauma that she is going through in the hands of Mr Deji Adeleke and Ashley Coco Adeleke, who has her own child that she keeps with her. We have advised our client about the statutory powers of your Agency to potently investigate and enforce all the provisions of the law that deal with abduction and trafficking in persons.

We urge you to use your good offices to intervene in the case of our client and protect a baby who should still be under her mother’s care from being abducted and smuggled abroad.

Dasuki Released from Prison and Re-Arrested Shortly After

Sambo Dasuki is not having a Merry Christmas right now.

The embattled former National Security Adviser was re-arrested yesterday shortly after being released from Kuje prison in Abuja, Daily Trust reports.

He was taken to court by EFCC, but he was granted bail last week along with former Sokoto State governor, Attahiru Bafarawa and his son, Sagir, as well as a former NNPC official, Aminu Baba Kusa.

Dasuki’s lawyer, Ahmed Raji reportedly confirmed his re-arrest.

You will recall that Dasuki is standing trial in three different courts in Abuja for alleged money laundering offences running into billions of naira.

Oyo Man Arrested for Posing as Colonel & Defrauding Businessman of N40 Million

A man in Oyo named Babatunde Idris, has been arrested after years spent posing as a colonel and defrauding people of various sums of money, including a businessman, whom he defrauded of N40 million.

State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, confirmed the news, stating:

"Following a petition received alleging the fraudulent activities of Idris, the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested the suspect, who until his arrest had fraudulently obtained various sums of money from his victims.

The suspect forged various letterheads of the nigerian army which he issued to unsuspecting individuals and corporate organisations soliciting assistance. He also had multiple identities under fake names all bearing the status of a colonel.

The suspect promised his last victim, Mustapha, that he would help him to get a certificate for oil importation since 2012, but failed to complete the deal after the money (N40 million) was paid into his account."

Idris has however denied collecting N40million from Mustapha, thenews.ng reports.

"I collected N16m from him claiming to be a colonel in the army. I signed the form, but truly I am not a military man. One of my brothers is a general in the army. One day, he gave me a letter to help somebody, so I made a copy of it.

Mustapha wanted me to help him to collect certificate of oil lifting and because I knew people who could do it, I took the money from him, but the deal failed."

Actor Mark Salling, known as Puck on hit series "Glee" has been arrested for child pornography.

According to TMZ, LAPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force obtained a search warrant for his Sunland home on Tuesday (December 29) and found thousands of images on the 33-year-old actor’s computer.

Most of the pictures were of girls younger than 15 and 16 years.

Mark Salling has reportedly been booked at the police station and his reps are yet to make an official statement.

An ex-girlfriend of Salling’s tipped off cops and they investigated before the raid to make sure it wasn’t a revenge allegation.

 

Breaking: N86.50 per litre is the New Petrol Price in Nigeria from 1st Jan 2016

 

A statement by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) lists the the pump price of petrol effective from January 1, 2016.

The price will be N86.50 per litre.

BN News received the statement which was signed by the PPPRA Executive Secretary, Farouk Ahmed.

The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), hereby announces the implementation of the revised components of the Petroleum Pricing Template for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Household Kerosene (NHK).

This follows the approval of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, for the implementation of the revised template.

Accordingly, the Ex-depot price of PMS shall be N77.00 per litre, while the pump price shall be N86.50 per litre in line with the prevailing market trend. This new price regime is with effect from 1st January 2016.

All Marketers are hereby advised to adhere strictly to the PPPRA Ex-depot and pump prices, as PPPRA in conjunction with relevant government agencies shall enforce compliance.

A student at Yabatech in Lagos, Funke Balogun reportedly died of electrocution on her birthday at an undisclosed hotel in Oshodi Lagos.

24-year-old Funke a mother of one was said to have lodged in her boyfriend’s mother’s newly commissioned hotel before she met her untimely death.

The incident we learnt happened on Balogun Street in Oshodi last Thursday, the same day the deceased clocked 24.

Her younger sister, Funmi, said Abolade came to pick her sister at their residence on Saturday around 11pm, adding that was the last she saw of her.

The bereaved mother, Mrs Kehinde Balogun, said she still spoke with her daughter on Sunday morning.

She said:"Funke was my first child and she has a three-year-old son. The only reason they live alone is because her school is close to the family house in Oshodi. Why did they kill my beauty? Why? What have I done to deserve this? I wish she listened to her sister that night because she had a dream. I saw my daughter in my sleep this morning telling me she had returned. It is unfortunate. I wish it was a reality. It is a big tragedy because where she died was three houses from where I gave birth to her. I warned her about him but she told me he was okay and assured me everything was fine."

Some family members claimed that the late Funke’s skin was still fresh when they visited the mortuary, adding that there was no sign of electrocution except for her swollen right arm.

The family members of the deceased believe she was murdered by her boyfriend.

At last Radio Biafra boss Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the founder of a Pro-Biafra group, IPOB has tendered an unreserved apology to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari over an insensitive comment he made about him a while ago.

This came in the wake of a video recording of Mr Kanu where he branded President Buhari as a terrorist and urged every Igbo man to take up their gun and fight for the freedom of Biafra.

In an open letter to Buhari, Nnamdi who buried his pride said all he was trying to do was to draw the attention to the suffering of his Igbo brothers and sisters all over Nigeria.

The letter reads in part, "Reference to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile is regrettable and uncalled for and for that, I unreservedly apologise and will be doing so in a private letter to the President.

"Before PMB (President Muhammadu Buhari) there was the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. I also said uncomplimentary things about him and Igbo elders as well, which I now recognise should not have happened because it is un-African to be rude or insolent to elders.

"All I was trying to do is to draw attention to the problems afflicting society and something done about them."

Kanu, who described himself as a Nigerian and a British citizen, justified his agitation for a Biafra Republic.

He said IPOB’s secessionist agenda was informed by the "incessant hardship, lack of holistic development in the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria, lack of youth employment, corruption in high offices and economic regression."

The mother of Lagos ACP, Batram Igbe has been kidnapped for the second time in 2015.

80-year-old Madam Rebecca Igbe was whisked from her residence in Emohua LGA of Rivers State to an unknown destination around 9pm yesterday by some masked gunmen.

A source, who is an indigene of the area, said the four gunmen were armed, adding that residents of the area were initially not aware that the 80-year-old woman was the hoodlum’s target.

Around 12 midnight, a young lady with her throat partly cut ran into a carnival while screaming to alert residence of the presence of ritual killers in the area.

The young girl who is said to be in her late 20s became unconscious while speaking but before then, she pointed to the uncompleted structure across the street where an Alfa (Islamic cleric) allegedly used a knife to cut part of her throat while trying to behead her.

Residents of Big Daddy Street in Atinplome area of Bagadry quickly mobilised and invaded the building looking for the ritual killer who almost beheaded the innocent girl.

We learnt that the girl told the crowd that the alfa, identified as Mallam Sheu, had tricked her into the uncompleted structure before slitting her throat with a knife.

She was later rushed to an hospital in the area when she became unconscious.

To cut the long story short, policemen who came to the scene said the alfa had fled.

It was learnt that in the morning, more residents thronged the area and they were said to have found bloodstains, old clothes, charms and ladies’ clothes inside the structure.

The DSS has given details of how its men apprehended the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The DSS said but for the tenacity of its men, Kanu, who lodged in a Lagos hotel under a fictitious name, would have escaped arrest.

It explained how arms and ammunition were recovered at the Ubulusiuzor, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State home of one of Kanu’s associates, Benjamin Madubugwu.

The information was contained in some documents filed with a fresh six-count charge against Kanu, Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.

A DSS operative, Temisan John, who led the team that arrested Kanu on October 14, said Kanu was apprehended in the company of a woman at the Golden Tulip Essential Lagos Airport Hotel located at 42/44, Murtala Mohammed International Aiprot Road, Ikeja, Lagos.

“On arrival at the hotel, the staff denied having Kanu there or having any knowledge of him, even when showed his photograph. The guest manifest, for about five days, was also printed and the name was not found on any.

“However, relying on accurate intelligence, the team decided to conduct a physical search on all the rooms and Kanu was arrested in Room 303 while hibernating with a young girl, Maryam Ibezimakor, with all his broadcasting and communication gadgets set for use.

“It was then discovered that Kanu checked in under the name Nwanekaenyi Ezebuiro. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the command headquarters.”

Another DSS operative, Mohammed Ahmed, who led the search of Madubugwu’s house, said items recovered in the house included “two pump-action guns loaded with ammunition, one Emerald pump-action gun with serial number: TS870-113-0046 and one Delta Magnum pump-action gun with serial number 501.”

Kanu, Madubugwu and Nwawuisi (identified as a Field Maintenance Engineer with MTN Nigeria), were to be arraigned on December 23, but Kanu stalled the proceedings when he told the trial judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, that he doubted his ability to give a fair trial.

This prompted Justice Mohammed to withdraw from the case and direct that the case file be returned to the court’s Chief Judge for reassignment to another judge.
